ORDINANCE NO. 2003 - 5 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS REVISING RESIDENTIAL <br />WATER AND WASTEWATER DEPOSITS UNDER SECTION <br />86.197 OF THE CITY CODE; REVISING FEES UNDER <br />SECTION 86.197 OF THE CITY CODE FOR METER <br />TAMPERING, METER TESTING AND METER <br />INSTALLATION; REVISING SECTION 86.198 OF THE CITY <br />CODE TO AUTHORIZE CUSTOMER-SIDE SERVICE CALL <br />FEES AND REPEAT-LINE LOCATE FEES AND SETTING <br />THE AMOUNTS OF THESE FEES; INCLUDING <br />PROCEDURAL PROVISIONS; AND PROVIDING FOR <br />PENALTIES. <br /> <br />RECITALS: <br /> <br /> 1. The Water and Wastewater Department has recommended that the an~mmts of water <br />and wastewater deposits ~br new residential customers under Section 86.197 of the City Code be <br />revised to more closely match the average mount in arrears for these types of accounts. <br /> <br /> 2. The Water and Wastewater Department has also recommended that the amounts of <br />service fees for meter tampering, meter testing and meter installation under Section 86.198 of the <br />City Code be revised to deter meter tampering and to more closely approximate the City's cost of <br />providing the se~wices. <br /> <br /> 3. The Water and Wastewater Department has also reconunended that Section 86.198 of <br />the City Code be revised to aufl~orize customer-side service call fee and repeat-line locate fee. <br /> <br />4. The City Cotmcil wishes to implemeut these recommendations. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS: <br /> <br /> SECTION 1. The amount of the deposit for water and wastewater services under <br />Section 86. i97 for new residential customers is set at $50.00 for water se~wice and $50.00 for <br />wastewater service. <br /> <br /> SECTION 2. Section 86.198 of the City Code is amended as follows (added text is <br />underlined): <br /> <br />Sec. 86.198. Miscellaneous service fees. <br /> <br />(a) A new account connection fee established by the city council must be paid to initiate <br />city water and/or sewer service.
