ORDINANCE NO. 2003 - 5 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS REVISING RESIDENTIAL WATER AND WASTEWATER DEPOSITS UNDER SECTION 86.197 OF THE CITY CODE; REVISING FEES UNDER SECTION 86.197 OF THE CITY CODE FOR METER TAMPERING, METER TESTING AND METER INSTALLATION; REVISING SECTION 86.198 OF THE CITY CODE TO AUTHORIZE CUSTOMER-SIDE SERVICE CALL FEES AND REPEAT-LINE LOCATE FEES AND SETTING THE AMOUNTS OF THESE FEES; INCLUDING PROCEDURAL PROVISIONS; AND PROVIDING FOR PENALTIES. RECITALS: 1. The Water and Wastewater Department has recommended that the an~mmts of water and wastewater deposits ~br new residential customers under Section 86.197 of the City Code be revised to more closely match the average mount in arrears for these types of accounts. 2. The Water and Wastewater Department has also recommended that the amounts of service fees for meter tampering, meter testing and meter installation under Section 86.198 of the City Code be revised to deter meter tampering and to more closely approximate the City's cost of providing the se~wices. 3. The Water and Wastewater Department has also reconunended that Section 86.198 of the City Code be revised to aufl~orize customer-side service call fee and repeat-line locate fee. 4. The City Cotmcil wishes to implemeut these recommendations. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: SECTION 1. The amount of the deposit for water and wastewater services under Section 86. i97 for new residential customers is set at $50.00 for water se~wice and $50.00 for wastewater service. SECTION 2. Section 86.198 of the City Code is amended as follows (added text is underlined): Sec. 86.198. Miscellaneous service fees. (a) A new account connection fee established by the city council must be paid to initiate city water and/or sewer service.
