<br /> <br />82 <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 1982-6 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING THAT ORDINANCE ADOPT- <br />ED FEBRUARY 22, 1982, WHICH ORDERED A REGULAR <br />CITY ELECTION ON APRIL 3, 1982 TO SPECIFY THAT <br />ABSENTEE VOTING SHALL ADDITIONALLY BE HELD AT <br />THE SAN MARCOS CONSOLIDATED INDEPENDENT SCHOOL <br />DISTRICT OFFICE AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN ~ffiRCOS, TEXAS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. That Section 6 of that Ordinance of the City Council of <br />the City of San Marcos, Texas, adopted February 22, 1982, is hereby <br />amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />"SECTION 6. That absentee voting for said regular city elec- <br />tion shall be held at City Hall, 630 East Hopkins Street and a branch <br />absentee voting office at the San Marcos Consolidated Independent <br />School District Office, 501 South L.B.J. Drive, within said City. <br />Said absentee voting shall be conducted during normal working days <br />in the City Hall and San Marcos Consolidated Independent School Dis- <br />trict Office from March 15, 1982 to March 30, 1982, and the hours for <br />absentee voting shall be from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The absentee <br />clerk's mailing address is 630 East Hopkins Street, to which ballot <br />applications and ballots voted by mail may be sent. Absentee votes <br />shall be delivered to the San Marcos Public Library at 12:00 p.nl. on <br />April 3, 1982. Absentee votes shall be counted at the central count- <br />ing station. A special canvassing board shall be appointed and per- <br />form in accordance with the provisions of Article 7.15, Texas Election <br />Code." <br /> <br />SECTION 2. That the importance of this Ordinance creates an emergency <br />and an imperative purpose necessary that the provisions of the charter <br />requiring that ordinances shall be read at three separate meetings and <br />that no ordinance shall become effective until the expiration of ten <br />(10) days following the date of its final passage be suspended, and <br />these provisions are hereby suspended, and this Ordinance shall take <br />effect and be in full force and effect from and after its adoption and <br />publication in a newspaper of general circulation within the City. <br /> <br />PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED <br /> <br />this ~ day of March, <br /> <br /> <br />bddOCk <br /> <br />Mayor <br /> <br />1982. <br /> <br />;;j~;)f~tuft/ <br /> <br />Janis K.
