82 ORDINANCE NO. 1982-6 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING THAT ORDINANCE ADOPT- ED FEBRUARY 22, 1982, WHICH ORDERED A REGULAR CITY ELECTION ON APRIL 3, 1982 TO SPECIFY THAT ABSENTEE VOTING SHALL ADDITIONALLY BE HELD AT THE SAN MARCOS CONSOLIDATED INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT OFFICE AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN ~ffiRCOS, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That Section 6 of that Ordinance of the City Council of the City of San Marcos, Texas, adopted February 22, 1982, is hereby amended to read as follows: "SECTION 6. That absentee voting for said regular city elec- tion shall be held at City Hall, 630 East Hopkins Street and a branch absentee voting office at the San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District Office, 501 South L.B.J. Drive, within said City. Said absentee voting shall be conducted during normal working days in the City Hall and San Marcos Consolidated Independent School Dis- trict Office from March 15, 1982 to March 30, 1982, and the hours for absentee voting shall be from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The absentee clerk's mailing address is 630 East Hopkins Street, to which ballot applications and ballots voted by mail may be sent. Absentee votes shall be delivered to the San Marcos Public Library at 12:00 p.nl. on April 3, 1982. Absentee votes shall be counted at the central count- ing station. A special canvassing board shall be appointed and per- form in accordance with the provisions of Article 7.15, Texas Election Code." SECTION 2. That the importance of this Ordinance creates an emergency and an imperative purpose necessary that the provisions of the charter requiring that ordinances shall be read at three separate meetings and that no ordinance shall become effective until the expiration of ten (10) days following the date of its final passage be suspended, and these provisions are hereby suspended, and this Ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its adoption and publication in a newspaper of general circulation within the City.
