The Police Department wishes to change from the current system of treating off-duty <br />security work as a special assignment for police officers in order to provide for a new system of <br />allowing other employers to independently engage police officers for off-duty security services. <br /> <br />2. It is necessary to delete current City Code references to off-duty security work as a <br />special assignment for police officers to allow the new system to be implemented. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. Article 2, Police Department, of Chapter 62, Public Safety, of the San Marcos <br />City Code is amended by deleting Division 3, Special Assignment Services--Off Duty Security <br />Work, in its entirety and reserving this division number for future use. <br /> <br />SECTION 2. If any word, phrase, clause, sentence, or paragraph of this ordinance is held <br />to be unconstitutional or invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, the other provisions of this <br />ordinance will continue in force if they can be given effect without the invalid portion. <br /> <br />SECTION 3. All ordinances and resolution or parts of ordinances or resolutions in conflict <br />with this ordinance are repealed. <br /> <br />SECTION 4. This Ordinance will take effect 10 days after the date of its final passage, and <br />the City Secretary will publish notice of its adoption in a newspaper of general circulation in the <br />City. <br /> <br />PASSED AND APPROVED on first reading January 25, 1999. <br /> <br />PASSED AND APPROVED on second reading February 8, 1999. <br /> <br />PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED February 22, 1999. <br /> <br />2!f 1~::--7~} <br />~;5i' !../ /~ <br />:Joe B.
