<br />23 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1980-5 R <br /> <br />A RESOLlJI'ION OF THE CI'IY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITI OF SAN MARCOS, 'TEXAS, ORDERING AN <br />ELECTION TO BE HELD ON THE 5TH DAY OF <br />APRIL, 1980 FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTION <br />OFFICIALS FOR SAID CI'IY AND ESTABLISH- <br />ING PROCEDURE FOR SAID ELECTION. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the laws of the State of Texas provide that on April 5, <br />1980, there shall be elected the following officials for this <br />City: <br /> <br />Mayor <br />CmIDcil Member, Place 1 <br />Council Member, Place 2; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the laws of the State of Texas further provide that the <br />Election Code of the State of Texas is applicable to said election, <br />and in order to comply with said Code, and order should be passed <br />establishing the procedure to be followed in said election, and <br />designatinf the voting places and presiding officials for said <br />election; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CI1Y COUNCIL OF 'TIrE CI'IY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />'TEXAS : <br /> <br />PART 1. That all independent candidates at the election to be <br />held on the first Saturday in April, April 5, 1980, for the <br />above mentioned offices file their application to become candi- <br />dates for Mayor or Councilmernber Place 1 and Councilmember <br />Place 2 with the Mayor of this City at City Hall, on or before <br />30 days before the dat:e of said election. <br /> <br />PART 2. That all of said applications shall be substantially in <br />the following form: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />"To the Mayor of the City of San Marcos, Texas: <br /> <br />I hereby request that my name be placed upon the <br />official ballot for the election to be held on the <br />5th day of April, 1980, as a candidate for (Mayor or <br />Place Councilmernber) of said City. I <br />hereby certify that I am above the age of 18 years, a <br />qualified elector and have resided 12 rronths next <br />preceding said election in said City, and I am <br />eligible to hold office under the Constitution of <br />this State. <br /> <br />fil\TED this the <br /> <br />day of <br /> <br />, 1980. <br /> <br />NAME OF CANDIDA'TE <br /> <br />RECEIVED the <br /> <br />day of <br /> <br />, 1980. <br /> <br />Mayor'1 <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />PART 3. That all candidates shall file with said application the <br />loyal ty affidavit required by Article 6. (J 2 of the Election Code. <br /> <br />PART 4. That the Secretary of this City shall, in accordance <br />with the terms and provisions of Article 13.32 of the Election <br />Code, post in her office the names of all candidates who have <br />filed their applications in accordance with the terms and <br />provisions of this order, and said names shall be posted at a <br />conspicious place in said office for at least 10 days before said <br />Secretary orders the same to be printed on the ballot for said <br />election. <br />
