<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />94 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1980-24R <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION ORDERING A SPECIAL ELECTION TO <br />BE HELD MAY 10, 1980. <br /> <br />THE STATE OF TEXAS X <br />CITY OF SAN MARCOS X <br /> <br />On this, the 7th day of April, 1980, the City Council of the <br />City of San Marcos, Texas, convened in Special Session at the <br />regular meeting place at city hall in said city, with the <br />following members present: Mayor John A. Hansen; Council <br />Members Ted Breihan, Robert L. Cavazos, Berry R. James, Kenneth <br />E. Sutton, John J. Stokes, and Gilbert G. Tenorio; and City <br />Secretary Doriss Hambrick; and no Council Members absent. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, no candidate for Places 1 and 2 and Mayor in the Regular <br />City Election held April 5, 1980, received a majority of the total <br />vote, as required by Sec. 5.5 of the Charter of the City of <br />San Marcos; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the two candidates receiving the largest number of votes <br />for Mayor were Kenneth V. Kraus and Kenneth L. Long; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the two candidates receiving the largest number of votes <br />for Place 1 were Fred Guerra and Karl W. Brown; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the two candidates receiving the largest number of votes <br />for Place 2 were John A. Kreczmer and Tess Norris; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN rffiRCOS, TEXAS: <br /> <br />That a Special Election be held in said City on the 10th day of <br />May, 1980, to determine the winning candidates for Mayor, Place 1 <br />and Place 2. <br /> <br />Doriss Hambrick is hereby appointed clerk for absentee voting. The <br />absentee voting shall be held at City Hall within said City and <br />said place of absentee voting shall remain open for at least eight <br />hours on each day for absentee voting which is not a Saturday, <br />a Sunday, or an official State holiday, beginning on the 20th day <br />and continuing through the 4th day preceding the date of said <br />election. Said place of voting shall remain open between the <br />hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on each day for said absentee <br />voting. The above described place for absentee voting is also the <br />absentee clerk's mailing address to which ballot applications and <br />ballots voted by mail may be sent. <br /> <br />Said Election shall be held in accordance with the Election Code <br />of this State and only resident qualified voters of saic City shall <br />be elegible to vote at said election. <br /> <br />Notice of said election will be given ln accordance with the <br />Election Code, and the City Secretary is hereby instructed to have <br />said notice posted and published in accordance with said <br />Article 4.05. <br /> <br />Immediately after said election is held, the officers holding same <br />shall made returns of the result thereof to the Mayor of the city <br />as required by the Election Code of this state. <br /> <br />A copy of this Resolution shall also serve as a writ of election <br />which shall be delivered to the Presiding Judges for said election. <br /> <br />PASSED AND APPROVED this <br /> <br />7th day of April, 1980. <br /> <br />(~ 'l1J v'y AnA1!~ <br />,#!/;;lk~ A.
