14 ORDINANCE NO. 1980- 24 I AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS AMENDING CHAPTER 20, ENTITLED "PLUMBING CODE" OF THE CODE OF ORDIDNANCES OF SAID CITY BY PROVIDING THAT ORDINANCE NO. 1980- , ADOPTED MAY 12, 1980 BECOME ARTICLE I, ENTITLED "PLUMB- ING PERTAINING TO WATER AND SEWERAGE SYSTEMS", OF SAID CHAPTER; BY ADOPTING THE 1979 EDITION OF THE "STANDARD GAS CODE" AND THE 1980 RE- VISIONS TO SAID CODE WHICH REGULATE THE INSTALLATION, ALTERATION, AND MAINTENANCE OF ALL PIPING EXTENDING FROM THE POINT OF DELIVERY OF GAS FOR USE AS A FUEL AND DESIGNED TO CARRY THE SAME TO GAS APPLIANCES; BY PROVIDING THAT THE PROVISIONS OF SAID CODE SHALL BE CONTROL- LING WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS; BY ESTABLISHING FEES FOR PERMITS OBTAINED PURSUANT TO SAID CODE AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of San Marcos, Texas, desires to provide complete requirements for the safe installa- tion of gas piping and gas appliances for fuel gases so as to safeguard life, health and public welfare and the protection of property; now, therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN ~ffiRCOS, TEXAS: I SECTION 1. That Chapter 20, Entitled "Plumbing Code" of the Code of Ordinances, City of San Marcos, Texas, is hereby amended to codify Ordinance No. , adopted May 12, 1980 as Article I, Entitled "Plumbing pertaining to Water and Sewerage Systems" of said Chapter. SECTION 2. That the Code of Ordinances, City of San Marcos, Texas, is hereby amended by adding an Article II, Entitled "Gas Piping and Gas Appliances" to Chapter 20 of said Code, which said Artic}e shall read as follows: ARTICLE II GAS PIPING AND GAS APPLIANCES Section 20-10. Adopted I There is hereby adopted by the City of San Marcos, Texas, for the purpose of establishing rules and regulations governing the installation of consumer's gas piping systems extending from the point of delivery to the inlet connections of appliances and the installation and operation of residential and commercial gas appliances, that certain code known as the "Standard Gas Code," being particularly the 1979 Edition, pubLished in 1979 by the Southern Building Code Congress International, Inc., 900 Montclair Road, Birmingham, Alabama 35213, and the 1980 Revisions to said Edition published by said Congress, now and herein- after amended, of which a copy has been and now is filed in the office of the City Secretary of the City of San Marcos, and the same is hereby adopted and incorporated as fully as if set out herein.
