107 ORD INA.1\JCE 19 81-12 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING SECTION 30-7 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS TO INCREASE THE AMOUNT CHARGED FOR A DEPOSIT FOR UTILITY SERVICE FROM THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, a review of the sums charged as a deposit for residential or commercial utility service from the City of San Marcos has revealed that the amounts currently charged are not adequate to provide for the final monthly bill; now therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That section 30-7 of the Code of Ordinances, City of San Marcos, Texas, is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 30-7. Deposit. All new residential connections for utility services shall pay a thirty-five dollar ($35.00) deposit and all commercial establishments shall pay a deposit equal to one and one-half (l~) times their estimated average monthly bill, pro- vided that a minimum deposit of forty dollars ($40.00) shall be charged for commercial utility service from the City of San Marcos. SECTION 2. That the importance of this Ordinance creates an emergency and an imperative purpose necessary that the pro- visions of the charter requiring that ordinances shall be read at three separate me tings and that no ordinance shall become effective until the expiration of ten (10) days following the date of its final p ssage be suspended, and these provisions are hereby suspended, and this Ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its adoption and publica- tion in a newspaper of general circulation within the City.
