OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, ORDERING A JOINT GENERAL <br />~, AND SPECIAL ELECTION BY THE CITY AND THE SAN <br />MARCOS CONSOLIDATED INDEPENDENT SCHOOL <br />DISTRICT TO BE HELD IN THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS ON MAY 2, 1992 FOR THE PURPOSE OF <br />ELECTING A MAYOR, A CITY COUNCIL MEMBER, <br />PLACE ONE, AND A CITY COUNCIL MEMBER, PLACE <br />TWO, AND FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING TO THE <br />VOTERS PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO THE CITY CHARTER <br />AND SUBMITTING TO THE VOTERS A PROPOSAL FOR A <br />LEASE OF CITY PARK PROPERTY TO THE GREATER SAN <br />MARCOS LITTLE LEAGUE, INC.; AND TO BE HELD <br />WITHIN THE BOUNDARIES OF THE SCHOOL DISTRICT <br />FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING A SCHOOL DISTRICT <br />BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEMBER, PLACE THREE, AND <br />A SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD OF TRUSTEES <br />MEMBER, PLACE FOUR; ESTABLISHING THE RATE OF <br />COMPENSATION TO BE PAID JUDGES, CLERKS, AND <br />ASSISTANTS TO THE TABULATION SUPERVISOR FOR <br />SERVICES RENDERED DURING THIS ELECTION; <br />MAKING PROVISIONS FOR THE CONDUCT OF THE <br />ELECTION AND OTHER PROVISIONS INCIDENT TO THE <br />PURPOSES OF THIS ORDINANCE; AND DECLARING AN <br />EMERGENCY. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. That, in accordance with the Charter of the City <br />of San Marcos and the laws of the,State of Texas, so far as the <br />same may be applicable, a joint general and special election is <br />ordered to be held by the City of San Marcos, Texas and the San <br />Marcos Consolidated Independent School District, at the various <br />polling places and election precincts within the corporate limits <br />of the City of San Marcos, Texas, and within the boundaries of the <br />San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District, as hereinafter <br />designated, on the 2nd day of May, 1992, from the hours of 7:00 <br />a.m. to 7:00 p.m., at which joint election there shall be <br />elected by the qualified voters of the City of San Marcos a City <br />Council Member for Place One and a City Co~ncil Member for Place <br />Two, for terms of three years, each and a Mayor for a term of two <br />years and at which joint election there shall be submitted to <br />the qualified voters of the City proposed amendments to the City <br />Charter of San Marcos, and a proposed lease of City park <br />prop9rty to the Greater San Marcos Little League, Inc. By the <br />qualified voters of the San Marcos Consolidated Independent <br />School District there shall be elected a School District Board of <br />Trustees Member for Place Three, and a School District Board <br />of Trustees Member for Place Four, for terms of three years <br />each. <br /> <br />SECTION 2. That, in accordance with Section 9.004 of the <br />Texas Local Government Code, and Sections 3.07(a), 12.11 and 12.12 <br />of the City Charter, and with other applicable laws, the following <br />measures shall be submitted to the qualified voters of the City at <br />the election to be held May 2, 1992: <br /> <br />MEASURE NO. ONE <br /> <br />SHALL SECTION 2.01 OF THE CITY CHARTER BE AMENDED <br />TO READ AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Sec. 2.01. General. <br /> <br />The city shall be a home rule city, with full power of <br />local self-government, including the right to amend this <br />charter, as provided by the constitution and laws of this <br />
