ORDINANCE 1989-6 .,' ",-4:'; ¡:....~ ë3t:;¡: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING CHAPTER 5, BUILDINGS AND BUILDING REGULATIONS, OF THE SAN MARCOS CODE OF ORDNANCES BY THE ADOPTION OF ARTICLE VIII STANDARD EXISTING BUILDING CODE, AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. ::;:- -. WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council of the City of San Marcos, Texas, to adopt the Standard Existing Building code to provide regulations and general guidelines relating to existing buildings within the corporate limits of said City; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of said City hereby finds and determines that the adoption of said Code is in the interest of the public health, safety and welfare; now, therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That Chapter 5, Buildings and Building Regulations is amended by the adoption of Article VIII Standard Existing Building Code, 1988 Edition, published by Southern Building Code Congress International, Inc., 900 Montclair Road, Birmingham, Alabama 35213-1206. Said Code is hereby adopted by reference as though it were copied herein fully and is on file in the City Secretary's Office. SECTION 2. That this Ordinance shall be in effect ten (10) days from and after its passage, and it shall be published in a newspaper of general circulation in the area as required by the Charter of the City of San Marcos, Texas. PASSED AND APPROVED on first reading January 9, 1989. PASSED AND APPROVED on second reading January 23, 1989.
