Mr. Serur gave a brief account of the U.S. Corps of <br />Engineers' plan, and alternate plan for fload control in San Marcos. <br />He said that a joint meeting of the Counci I and the Urban Renewal <br />Agency Board had resulted in agreement to pursue a plan of flood <br />control through cooperation with Soi I Conservation Service. This <br />method, aimed primari Iy at recharging the Edwards Underground <br />water supply, would involve construction of a number of smal I dams <br />above San Marcos. Mr. Serur said the City would like the County <br />to join in making application to SCS for a survey, with participation <br />in cast in the proper ratio~ <br /> <br />Andy Anderson, SCS Unit Conservatianist, explained the steps <br />required for getting appraval of a survey. Using a map, he indi- <br />cated how the chain of sma I I dams would effect flaod control. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Jim Brown, Executive Director of the local Urban Renewal Agency, <br />explained how the type of flood control proposed by SCS would <br />benefit the deveopment of the GNRP area. <br /> <br />It was brought out that no financial abligation would be incurred <br />by making application for a survey. <br /> <br />Robert Knispel, member of the Edwards Underground Water District <br />Board of Directors, spoke briefly about the possible participation <br />of the District in the project. <br /> <br />-- <br />:::: <br />;;.0.. <br />::!l <br />~ <br />
