RESOLUTION NO. 1974-22-R 7 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, CREATING THE "SAN MARCOS BEAUTIFICATION AWARD". WHEREAS, the City of San Marcos enjoys a reputation of being one of the most beautiful cities in Texas; and, WHEREAS, this reputation is due not only to the natural I environment of the City, but also to those citizens who strive to preserve and enhance this natural beauty; and, WHEREAS, the City Council desires to create a monthly award to recognize those citizens who contribute to such preservation and enhancement, as well as to stimulate others to work towards a goal of beautifying San Marcos in harmony with its natural environment; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: Part 1. That the Council establish the "San Marcos Beautification Award" to be presented to that citizen or citizens whose residence or business location shows an obvious improvement from one month to the next and is an asset to I San Marcos. Part 2. That a panel of five judges shall be selected by and from the membership of the Bicentennial Commission, subject to confirmation by the City Council. Upon the disso- lution of the Bicentennial Commission following the end of the 1776-1976 Bicentennial Celebration, the panel of five judges shall be selected by the City Council. Part 3. That the recipient of the "San Marcos Beauti- fication Award" shall be designated by said panel during the first week of each month. Part 4.
