<br />RESOLUTION NO. 1974-22-R <br /> <br />7 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, CREATING THE <br />"SAN MARCOS BEAUTIFICATION AWARD". <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of San Marcos enjoys a reputation of <br /> <br />being one of the most beautiful cities in Texas; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this reputation is due not only to the natural <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />environment of the City, but also to those citizens who strive <br /> <br />to preserve and enhance this natural beauty; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council desires to create a monthly <br /> <br />award to recognize those citizens who contribute to such <br /> <br />preservation and enhancement, as well as to stimulate others <br /> <br />to work towards a goal of beautifying San Marcos in harmony <br /> <br />with its natural environment; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> <br />Part 1. That the Council establish the "San Marcos <br /> <br />Beautification Award" to be presented to that citizen or <br /> <br />citizens whose residence or business location shows an obvious <br /> <br />improvement from one month to the next and is an asset to <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />San Marcos. <br /> <br />Part 2. That a panel of five judges shall be selected <br /> <br />by and from the membership of the Bicentennial Commission, <br /> <br />subject to confirmation by the City Council. Upon the disso- <br /> <br />lution of the Bicentennial Commission following the end of the <br /> <br />1776-1976 Bicentennial Celebration, the panel of five judges <br /> <br />shall be selected by the City Council. <br /> <br />Part 3. That the recipient of the "San Marcos Beauti- <br /> <br />fication Award" shall be designated by said panel during the <br /> <br />first week of each month. <br /> <br />Part 4.
