<br />-2- <br /> <br />In1.3.3 Appendices. The appendices included in this Code <br />are enfo~ceable and are incorporated herein and made a part <br />hereof for all purposes. <br /> <br />Sec. 5-24. <br /> <br />Chapter 3, Fire District <br /> <br />Chapter <br /> <br />3, <br /> <br />Fire <br /> <br />District, shall be deleted in its entirety. <br /> <br />Sec. 5-25. <br /> <br />Section 402 of Chapter 4. <br /> <br />Section 402 of Chapter 4 is hereby amended to add sections <br />402.1.5, 402.1.6 and 402.1.7 which shall read as follows: <br /> <br />402.1.5 All buildings four (4) stories or more or having a <br />height of 40 feet or higher shall be protected by an approved <br />automatic fire sprinkler throughout the entire area of the <br />building. Installation shall be in accordance with NFiPA 13. <br /> <br />402.1.6 All buildings, except those classified as <br />residential occupancies, with a gross total enclosed floor <br />area of greater than 20,000 square feet shall be equipped with <br />automatic fire sprinklers throughout the entire building. <br />Residential occupancies with a gross total enclosed floor area <br />of greater than 15,000 square feet shall be sprinklered <br />throughout the entire building. Installation shall be in <br />accordance with NfiPA 13. <br /> <br />402.1.7 In case of conflict of Sections 402.1.5 and/or <br />402.1.6 with any of the provisions of this code, the stronger, <br />more burdensome requirements shall prevail or control and be <br />enforced. <br /> <br />Sec. 5-26. <br /> <br />Chapter 5 <br /> <br />Chapter 5 is hereby amended by adding the folowing as Section <br />501 and renumbering the present Section 501 and the remaining <br />sections of said chapter sequentially: <br /> <br />501-- Automatic Sprinkler Systems <br /> <br />A. All buildings four (4) stories or more or having a <br />height of 40 feet or higher shall be protected by an approved <br />automatic fire sprinkler throughout the entire area of the <br />building. Installation shall be in accordance with NFiPA 13. <br /> <br />B. All buildings, except those classified as residential <br />occupancies, with a gross total enclosed floor area of greater <br />than 20,000 square feet shall be equipped with automatic fire <br />sprinklers throughout the entire building. Residential <br />occupancies with a gross total enclosed floor area of greater <br />than 15,000 square feet shall be sprinklered throughout the <br />entire building. Installation shall be in accordance with <br />NFiPA 13. <br /> <br />C. In case of conflict of subsections A and/or B with any <br />of the provisions of this code, the stronger, more burdensome <br />requirements shall prevail or control and be enforced. <br /> <br />Sec. 5-27. <br /> <br />Section 506.9 of Chapter 5 <br /> <br />Section 506.9 of Chapter 5 is hereby deleted in its entirety, <br />and the remaining sections renumbered sequentially. <br /> <br />5-28. <br /> <br />Section 509.3 of Chapter 5 <br /> <br />Section <br />follows: <br /> <br />509.3 of <br /> <br />Chapter <br /> <br />5 is <br /> <br />hereby <br /> <br />amended to <br /> <br />read <br /> <br />as <br /> <br />509.3-- Automatic Sprinkler Protection <br /> <br />An approved automatic sprinkler system shall be installed <br />throughout the entire building except that when the ceiling <br />of the atrium is more than 55 ft above the floor sprinkler <br />protection at the ceiling of the atrium may be omitted when <br />approved by the Building Official. <br />
