WASTEWATER SYSTEM

The City of San Marcos currently owns and operates one wastewater treatment facility with a present
combined permitted capacity of 6.25 MGD. The system consists of approximately 85 miles of collection
lines with 42 lift stations. After treatment, wastewater is returned to the San Marcos River.

Recent improvements increased the system capacity to serve a projected population of 46,000 in the year
2000.

Storm water is collected in an entirely separate gravity feed storm sewer system and is completely
segregated from the sanitary sewer system. The storm sewer system is operated and maintained by the
City's Department of Public Works.

Maintenance and inspection of the City's sewer system is accomplished by maintenance personnel
employed by the City's Water and Wastewater Department.

TOP TEN WATER AND SEWER CUSTOMERS
(F iscal Year Ended 9-30-87)

Gallons Amount Billed
Customer Billed Water Sewer Total
Southwest Texas State
University 314,433,600 $116,677 $243,654 $360,331
Gary Job Corporation Center 125,282,400 205,554 -0- 205,554
San Marcos Housing Authority 44,991,200 46,913 29,339 76,252
Bordeaux Apartments 16,185,600 24,215 24,215 48,430
Shalamar Apartments 24,624,000 26,813 16,826 43,639
San Marcos Place Apartments 13,477,200 20,890 20,890 41,780
San Marcos Consolidated
Independent School District 22,708,800 19,226 18,467 37,693
Mc-N-R Apartments 9,859,200 16,018 16,018 32,036
Townwood Apartments 10,075,200 15,225 15,225 30,450
Cedars of San Marcos 10,597,200 14,467 14,647 29.294
$905,459
A veraste Daily Sewa2e Flow
A verage Daily Average Daily
Use In Use In
Year Gallons (OOO's) ~ Gallons (OOO's)
1975 3,100 1981 3,190
1976 2,962 1982 3,210
1977 3,380 1983 3,125
1978 3,780 1984 3,344
1979 3,040 1985 3,692
1980 3,010 1986 3,677
1987

BILLING PROCEDURES

% of
Total
Revenue

10.9196
6.2296
2.3196
1.4796
1 . 3296
1.2696

1.1496
0.9796
0.9296
0.8996
27.4196

Water meters are read during the first three weeks of each month.
