<br /> í5 <br /> Special Meeting May 7, 1984 Page 4 <br /> Mr. Guerra moved for adoption of the Resolution and Ms. Kissler <br /> seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> Mayor Craddock introduced for consideration adoption of a Resolution, <br /> the caption which was read as follows: <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br /> MARCOS, TEXAS, DECLARING THE POPULATION OF THE CITY <br /> OF SAN MARCOS AND ESTABLISHING THE EXTRATERRITORIAL <br /> JURISDICTION OF THE CITY UNDER ARTICLE 970a, MUNICIPAL <br /> ANNEXATION ACT, VERNON'S ANNOTATED CIVIL STATUTES,AND <br /> DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> Ms. Kissler moved for adoption of the Resolution and Mr. Farr seconded <br /> the motion. Joe Garza stated the 1980 Census Report showed the City of <br /> San Marcos to have a population of 23,420. The City challenged the <br /> Bureau of Census that we did not accept the report. Mr. Garza stated <br /> our population has increased through immigration, births, occupancy <br /> rate and gave the following breakdown on new electrical residential <br /> meter installations: 1980 - 569, 1981 - 550, 1982 - 782 and 1983 - <br /> 1,291. In his opinion we can establish our population at 33,311. <br /> Mr. Hankins pointed out the Resolution will only reflect we have a <br /> population of over 25,000 so that we can extend our ETJ to 2 miles. <br /> Mr. Farr requested Mr. Garza to put this information in writing and <br /> forward to the Council.
