(b) The committee will: • <br />(1) help to ensure that traditions which honor the memory of our veterans are <br />perpetuated; <br />(2) advise and make recommendations on policy and legislation of interest to <br />veterans on a local, state, or national level; <br />(3) serve as a network for the exchange of information relative to veterans <br />activities; <br />(4) discuss and make recommendations on issues that are relative to veterans <br />within San Marcos; and, <br />(5) make recommendations on any improvements to the Veterans Memorial <br />SECTION 2. Initial appointments to positions as voting members on the veteran's affairs <br />advisory committee will decide their terms of office by drawing lots, with three drawing terms of <br />three years, two drawing terms of two years, and two drawing terms of one year. Those drawing <br />terms of office of one or two years will not have their initial term count as a term of office under <br />City Code Sec. 2.068. <br />SECTION 3. If any word, phrase, clause, sentence, or paragraph of this ordinance is held to • <br />be unconstitutional or invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, the other provisions of this <br />ordinance will continue in force if they can be given effect without the invalid portion. <br />SECTION 4. All ordinances and resolution or parts of ordinances or resolutions in conflict <br />with this ordinance are repealed. <br />SECTION 5.
