Only one (1) supplier responded, with a bid price of
$20,487.80.

Due to the low response, approximately seven (7) of the nineteen (19)
suppliers were contacted by telephone to find out why they did not
participate on the above-mentioned bid.

Their response was that they had a larger unit available, but not a
product the size, articulàted, called for by the specifications. Some
suppliers stated that not too many manufacturers build this type of
equipment articulated in this size. One supplier said the list price on
this type of equipment was $26,454.00.

To summarize, the equipment described in the Public Works Wastewater
Disposal specifications is the minimum size required to adequately maintain
the sludge drying beds that are part of the 6.25 million gallon per
day (MGD) wastewater treatment plant. Most suppliers can only provide a
larger unit that is articulated as required. Therefore, the list price is
higher than the bid allowed for.

Recommend to award bid to the sole bidder who can supply the equipment
as specified.

HS:ls

CSM-100
