<br />BENEFIT PERIOD <br /> <br />The term "Benefit Period" refers to a time period of one year, as shown on the <br />Schedule of Benefits. Such benefit period will terminate on the earliest of <br />the following dates: <br /> <br />a. <br /> <br />The last day of the one year period so established; or <br /> <br />b. <br /> <br />The day the Maximum Lifetime Benefit applicable to the Covered <br />Person becomes payable; or <br /> <br />c. <br /> <br />The day the Covered Person ceases to be covered for Major Medical <br />Expenses Benefits. <br /> <br />BENEFIT YEAR <br /> <br />The term "Benefit Yearn means a period of time commencing with the effective <br />date of this Plan or the Plan Anniversary, and terminating on the date of the <br />next succeeding Plan Anniversary. <br /> <br />CALENDAR YEAR <br /> <br />The term "Calendar Year" means a period of time commencing on January 1 and <br />ending on December 31 of the same given year. <br /> <br />CLOSE RELATIVE <br /> <br />The term "Close Relative" means the spouse, parent, brother, sister, child, of <br />the Covered Persons or of the Covered Person's spouse. <br /> <br />COLLEGE <br /> <br />See definition of University. <br /> <br />EMPLOYER <br /> <br />The term "Employer" means City of San Marcos. <br /> <br />CONY ALES CENT NURSING FACILITY <br /> <br />The term "Convalescent Nursing Facility" means an institution, or distinct <br />part thereof, operated pursuant to law and one which meets all of the <br />following conditions: <br /> <br />a. <br /> <br />It is licensed to provide, and is engaged in providing, on an <br />inpatient basis, for persons convalescing from injury or illness, <br />professional nursing services rendered by a registered graduate <br />nurse (R.N.) or by a licensed practical nurse (L.P.N.) under the <br />direction of a registered graduate nurse and physical restoration <br />services to assist patients to reach a degree of body functioning to <br />permit self-care in essential daily living activities; and <br /> <br />8 <br />
