ORDINANCE NO. 2013 -60 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS ESTABLISHING THE SAN MARCOS COMMISSION <br />ON CHILDREN AND YOUTH; SETTING FORTH THE DUTIES OF THE <br />COMMISSION; INCLUDING PROCEDURAL PROVISIONS; AND <br />PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS: <br />SECTION 1. Chapter 2 of the San Marcos City Code is hereby amended to add Sections <br />2.076 and 2.077, pertaining to the San Marcos Youth Council and to read as follows: <br />Sec. 2.076. San Marcos Commission on Children and Youth; established; <br />composition; appointment of representatives. <br />(a) The San Marcos Commission on Children and Youth is hereby <br />established. The Commission shall have representation by individuals who hold elected <br />or executive level positions with the following partners: <br />1. City of San Marcos <br />2. San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District <br />3. United Way of Hays County <br />4. Texas State University <br />5. Hays County <br />6. Austin Community College <br />7. CARTS and city transportation officials <br />8. Economic/ Workforce Development <br />9. City Council Member, ex- officio <br />10. SMCISD Board Trustee, ex- officio <br />The Commission will also have representation of key constituency groups <br />in the community to include: <br />-Youth — representative of the Youth Commission <br />-Parents — through parent groups such as PTO /PTA/Booster Clubs /Home School <br />Association <br />-Youth service providers <br />-Faith based community <br />(b) The representatives of partner organizations shall serve a term <br />of 2 years. Representatives of key San Marcos partner organizations such as SMCISD, United <br />Way of Hays County and Texas State University may be appointed to serve multiple terms to <br />ensure accountability and buy -in by those organizations. <br />
