55
Regular Meeting October 8, 1984 Page 5
He said he preferred the Council to table the matter rather than
terminate the lease, wherein they would have to start the process
from the beginning again. Jim Gandy from the Chamber of Commerce
said the Industrial Board would be meeting on October 18 and this
matter could be placed on their agenda if NAAC wanted it to be.
On Mr. Coddington's tabling motion, the following vote was record-
ed:
AYE: Brown, Coddington, Kissler, Moore.
NAY: Farr, Guerra.
ABSTAIN: None.
The motion failed (requires 3/4 vote of Council). Mr. Coddington
moved to deny the Resolution and Mr. Moore seconded the motion. On
roll call the following vote was recorded:
AYE: Brown, Coddington, Kissler, Moore.
NAY: Farr, Guerra.
ABSTAIN: None.
The motion passed. Council directed Staff to place the matter on a
future agenda if the difficulties were not worked out.
Mr. Farr introduced for consideration approval to refund the retainer
of $2,277.00 on the Cemetery Maintenance Contract for the FY83-84 to
Gene Bagwell d/b/a Maintenance Management. Ms. Kissler moved for ap-
proval of the refund and Mr. Moore seconded the motion, which passed
unanimously.
Mr. Farr introduced for consideration approval to authorize bidding
for the streetlights for Downtown. Terry Colley said there was money
in the 84-85 budget to pay for installation of forty lights ($315 x
40 = $18,600). He requested funds be made available for the purchase
of these 16 lights (New York style 15' cast iron poles with double
plain crossarm poles, with 2 25" Lexan acorn globes with GE Warmtone
mercury lamps or equivalent) from fund balance in the amount of
$26,000. The City has previously purchased 47 light fixtures that
are in storage and have never been installed. The Council directed
the budgeted funds be used to install the old lights that are in stor-
age. After such time we could bring this matter to the Council again
to quthorize bidding for the 16 new lights to go around the Courthouse
Square (exterior side) and the Council would find funds at that time to
pay for the installation of the new light fixtures. Vince VandeWalle
agreed with the Council's direction and added it would be wise to co-
ordinate with the purchasing of the lights with the County when they
purchase lights to go around the Courthouse so that all light fixtures
would coordinate and could probably be purchased at a better price.
The Council took no formal action on this matter.
Mr. Farr introduced for consideration approval to authorize bidding for
the janitorial services contract for City Hall. Ms. Kissler moved for
approval for authorization to bid and Mr. Guerra seconded the motion,
which passed unanimously.
Mr. Farr introduced for consideration approval to authorize bidding
for the cemetery irrigation system in Dixon Addition. Mr. Guerra
moved for authorization to bid and Ms. Kissler seconded the motion,
which passed unanimously.
Mr. Farr introduced for consideration authorization to bid traffic en-
forcement police motorcycles. Nr. Brown moved to approve authorization
to bid and Mr. Farr seconded the motion. Jesse Guerra said they were
