<br />BUDGET NARRATIVE <br /> <br />Schedule C-l <br /> <br />In-State Travel (continued) <br /> <br />l6-Hr. Narcotics Investigation School, DPS Austin. Instruction is <br />structured at the basic investigative specialist level and focuses on <br />key knowledge areas required for effective narcotics investigation. <br />The overall objective of the course is to enhance the officers' ability <br />to identify drug offenses and to conduct investigations which result <br />in lawful arrests and successful prosecutions. Since agency vehicle will <br />be used and meals provided by DPS, mileage and per diem is not necessary; <br />however, registration fee per officer is $15.00. The registration fee is <br />reflected in Schedule F. <br /> <br />l6-Hr. Advanced Undercover Investigations Seminar, W.H. Harris and <br />Associates, San Antonio. The objective of the seminar will be to provide <br />participants with the most recent technology and information, new insights, <br />and enhanced perspectives dealing with activities and problems encountered <br />in undercover investigations. Topics to be included in the course are: <br />planning and preparation for undercover operations; record keeping and <br />reporting procedures; supervision of undercover people; short-term vs. <br />long term operations; use of informants; officer stress; and selected topics <br />on undercover drug investigations. Course registration is $175.00 per <br />officer and is reflected in Schedule F. Since agency vehicle will be used, <br />mileage is not requested.
