<br /> SAN MARCOS NEIGHBORHOOD/ COHMUNlTY CONCERNS SURVEY <br /> The Greater San Marcos Area Council of Neighborhood Associations <br /> determined at their March 1985 meeting that it would be in the best interest <br /> of both the neighborhoods comprising the council and the city of San Marcos <br /> to develop a questionaire which could be used to accurately ascertain <br /> citizen perception of the Level of services being provided by the city of <br /> San Marcos. To this end a committee was appointed to develop such an <br /> instrument. Two versions of the questionaire were presented to the council <br /> meeting of April 1985 and the membership selected the version which in both <br /> spanish and english editions is enclosed as Appendix "A". <br /> The questionaire was translated into a spanish language edition through <br /> the good offices of Dr. Robert A. Galvan and Mr. Javier Villareal of the <br /> Modern Languages Department of Southwest Texas State University. Through <br /> the generosity of the Texas Educational Foundation, two thousand english and <br /> spanish language questionaires were printed by The Gary Job Corps Center <br /> Print Shop. <br /> Distribution of questionaires through neighborhood representatives was <br /> begun in July, 1985. Final returns were gathered during October, 1985. <br /> Because of the lengthy period of the field phase of this survey, returns may <br /> be subject to the influence of interviewing variables such as the highly <br /> publicized drive to launch a recall petition for the mayor and city council. <br /> Of the 1,428 questlonalres distributed 292 were returned for a 20.44% <br /> response ratio. Optimum distribution of all 2000 questionaires was <br /> -page 1- <br />
