The response <br /> percentages together with the number of responses received from each <br /> participating neighborhood are enclosed as Appendix "C". According to best <br /> available records there are presently twenty-two organized neighborhoods <br /> within the city limits of San Marcos and seven organized neighborhoods <br /> within the San Marcos E.T.J. Responses were received from fifteen of the <br /> neighborhoods within the city limits. No questionaires were distributed to <br /> neighborhoods outside city limits. This latter decision was based on the <br /> rationale that neighborhood residents outside city limits were not able to <br /> vote in city elections. <br /> An examination of the questionaire reveals that citizen preception of <br /> parking, street signs, street conditions and street lighting were sought in <br /> item 1-4. The services rendered by the San Marcos Library were e~amined in <br /> items 5-8. The Parks and Recreation program of the city was addressed in <br /> items 9-12 and item 35. The public safety function was the subject of items <br /> 13-20. The solid waste (sanitation) function of the city was the focus of <br /> items 21-24, while the water system was the focus of items 25-28. Animal <br /> control services were evaluated in items 29-30. Items 31 and 32 dealt with <br /> drainage problems in individual neighborhoods while items 33-34 examined <br /> enforcement of zoning regulations. Item 38 was designed to give a reading <br /> on the general attitude citizens held towards the betterment of San Marcos, <br /> and item 39 was aimed at determining the level of political efficacy the <br /> respondent possessed vis a vis those in policy-making positons in the city <br /> of San Marcos. <br /> Finally, the questionaire sought to elicit from respondents their <br /> perception of the city service area which they felt was most in need of <br /> -page 2- <br />
