<br /> Basic demographic data will be collected for the San Marcos <br /> area, including population, land use, economic and socio-economic <br /> information. <br /> Special emphasis will be placed upon determination of the <br /> airports historical relationship to the community and the surrounding <br /> area, and its role in the system of airports in the vicinity. This <br /> emphasis will be placed due to the dynamic nature of the area and <br /> the relationship that the airport will have with the rapidly <br /> urbanizing environs in the years to come. The development of new land <br /> uses in the immediate vicinity of the airport, in combination with <br /> expanding airport needs, and the special relationship between the City <br /> and the Gary Job Corps Center have great relevance in the long term <br /> airport development program, and deserves special attention in the <br /> inventory phase of the study. <br /> Special attention will also be given to the future role <br /> that the airport will play in the system of airports serving the <br /> Austin-San Marcos-San Antonio Corridor. <br /> The review and data collection effort will be a continuing <br /> function throughout the course of the Study. <br /> Task 2 - Review and Update Aviation Activity Forecasts <br /> As a result of the very substantial changes in aviation <br /> activity at San Marcos since 1981, when the original Airport Master <br /> Plan was developed, it will be necesBary' to update forecasts of future <br /> activity. <br /> Future facility requirements will be determined, in large <br /> measure, by aviation demand generated within the air trade area <br /> serviced by the airport. The forecasts will be developed in specific <br /> categories, in five year increments over a 20 year ti1re period. <br /> The forecasting methodology will employ both multiple re- <br /> gression techniques and a share of the market analysis. '!he method- <br /> ology utilizes population, disposable income and employment data as <br /> correlaries. <br /> Forecasts will be developed in the following specific <br /> categories. <br /> a. Total Aircraft Operations (annual, daily) including <br /> instrurrent operations.. <br />
