Sec.. 4-;3. 1:EMPQ~ARY SIGNS" A permit is required in accordance with the provisions of Sec. 5-1 for CONSTRUCTION SIGNS, SUBDIVISION SIGNS, temporary off-site SIGNS, any PORTABLE SIGN functioning as one of the below listed TEMPORARY SIGNS, and BANNERS ERECTED over public rights-of-way. A permit is not required for all other SIGNS classified as temporary. The display of TEMPORARY SIGNS shall be subject to the following limitations. 1. Sidewalk placards not exceeding 12 square feet in SIGN AREA, pennants, streamers, and balloons may be displayed for special events a maximum of 7 days within any six-month period. 2. BANNERS over public rights-of-way may be displayed a maximum of 15 consecutive days at the same location. All other BANNERS not otherwise defined as a PERMANENT SIGN may be displayed on private property for events a maximum of 7 days or the length of the event if longer than 7 days, within any six-month period. 3. CONSTRUCTION SIGNS shall be displayed only during the period of construction, and shall not exceed 24 square feet in area per SIGN for residential construction, excluding multi-family, or 40 square feet for multi- family residential and all other types of construction. 4. POLITICAL SIGNS shall be removed within 7 days after the election to which they pertain. Otherwise POLITICAL SIGNS are unregulated as to size, height, number, content, color, etc. 5. Display of REAL ESTATE SIGNS shall be limited to one SIGN for each FRONTAGE on a street per PREMISES, and shall not exceed 8 square feet in area per SIGN for all residential USES excluding multi-family residential, 160 square feet for industrial or business park properties located along the Interstate HIGHWAY CORRIDOR, or 32 square feet in area per SIGN for multi- family residential and all other USES, except w'here the SIGN COpy of an existing PERMANENT SIGN is temporarily changed to function as a REAL ESTATE SIGN, in which case the SIGN AREA of the PERMANENT SIGN shall be alloHed. -13-
