-4- SECTION 31. That Section 36, Area Requ~rements, of the Generai Zoning Ordinance of the San Marcos COde of Ord~nances 1S hereoy renamed 36, Supplemental Area Requ1rements and Sect10n 36(H)(1) of said Ordinance is hereoy amended to read as foLLOWS: ( H) (1) Projections of roof overhangs includ.ing cornices, eaves, gutters, and downspouts, Shad.e control aevices, and awnings or canop1es over d.oors and. windows, may project a d.1stance not exceed.ing three feet into the required. yard. provid.ea, however, that such projection shall extena no closer than five feet to any lot l1ne except as permittea oelow: (a) such projections in the R-2 and. district shall extend no closer three feet to any lot line; DP-2 than (0) such projections in the PDD and ZL-1 district may extend. a maximum of two feet over the lot line into the required. five-foot maintenance ana drainage easement on the adjacent iot~ ana (c) such projections in the PUD d.1stricts may extend. as author1zed. on the approvea Development Pian. SECTION 32. That Suosection 36(H) of the General Zoning Ora1nance of the San Marcos Coae of Orainances is hereby repeaiea. SECTION 33. That new Subsection 36(H) of Zon1ng Ora1nance of the San Marcos Code of Ordinances to read as fOilows: the is General adopted (H) ~he following exceptions moaify the standard m1nimum setback requirements with respect to principai structures: (1) Cornices, eaves, gutters ana downspouts, shad.e controi aevices, and awnings or canopies over doors and. windows may project a distance not exceeding three feet into the requ1red. yard providea, however, that such project1on shail extena no closer than f1ve feet to any lot line. (3) Fire escapes, and. other uncoverea stairs, ramps ana land.ings may project a distance not exceeaing three feet into requ1red yardS proviaed, however, that such projection shall extena no closer than f1ve feet to any iot line. (4) Canopies over commercial fuel pump ana vehicle service islands may overhang a required front or exterior S1ae yard a aistance not exceed.ing one foot for each one foot 1n height, prOVided. that the grouna support structure is entirely w1thin the required minimUffiouilding setback line, and. provided the canopy extend.S no closer than five feet to the property line.
