Table 1.7 sOOws the estimated level of business activity at San Marcos
over the 20 _year planninq period.

'DIble 1.7 .AlRmL J:~ BJSD1I3SS CPBRAT.Ie&;
Year 1985 1990 1995 2000 2005
~tions
(XlOOO) 17 20 27 36 53
Ih.la.. .l~~

Presently, there is insufficient information available to determine
the current number of instrument approaches made at the San Marcos
Airport. '1bis is due to the fact that the airport is uncontrolled and
the Air Traffic Caltrolling Aqency with jurisdiction does not record
or maintain a log of actual instrument approaches at the airport.

'l11ere is an ~ed instrument awroach to the airport at the present
time; and the addition of a VOR navigation aid and an Instrument
Landing System (ILS) to Runway 12/30 have increased the numbers of
actual and practice instrument approaches to the airport. These
increases are included in the activity forecasts.

Air earn...- Activity Pm]ect:ials

At the present time, no air carrier or commuter airlines serve the San
Marcos Airport. The major metropolitan airports in Austin and San
Antonio provide excellent air carrier service to the central Texas
regi.al and are located within a rea.sooable distance from San Marcos.

'!here are no indications at this time that there would be sufficient
demand generated in the San Marcos area to warrant scheduled air line
service; however, there is a possibility that with increased
IX'P,l~tion and industrial growth over the long term, commuter airline
services may be feasible to cumect San Marcos with the major airports
in the area.

.........rnal Ax-. Activity

Terminal facilities, as defined in this study, are not passenger
terminal facilities per see There are, however, requirements for
facilities awrq>ri.ate for pilots and other visitors to the airport,
and which would be the primary place of business for airport
management and other ~ations relative to the conduct of business at
the airport. As the airport develops, it is anticipated that there
will be substantial growth and demand for these kinds of facilities.

1.13
