<br /> <br /> <br />",,", <br /> <br /> <br />38 <br /> <br />ORDINANCE 1986-131 <br /> <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING CHAPTER 29, <br />TRAFFIC, OF THE SAN MARCOS CODE OF ORDINANCES <br />BY DELETING UNNECESSARY DEFINITIONS, REPEALING <br />SECTIONS SUPERSEDED BY STATE LAW, REPEALING <br />SECTIONS CONCERNING THE TRAFFIC COMMISSION, <br />AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />\ ("< <br /> <br /> <br />fu <br />if) <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. That <br />Ordinances is repealed. <br /> <br />Section <br /> <br />29-1 <br /> <br />of the San Marcos Code of <br /> <br />SECTION 2. That a new Section 29-1 of the San Marcos Code <br />of Orainances is aaopted to read as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 29-1. Definitions. <br /> <br />Alley. A puDlic way in the city extending either partly <br />or completely through any city block in the rear of the <br />lots. <br /> <br />Bicycle. A aevice propelled by human power upon which a <br />person may riae, having two tandem wheels either of <br />which is more than 14 inches 1n diameter. <br /> <br />Crosswalk. That part of a roadway at any intersection <br />incluaea within the connection of the lateral lines of <br />the s1dewalks on opposite sides of the street, whether <br />marked or not, measured from the curbs or in the aDsence <br />of curDS, from the eages of the traversaDle roadway. <br />The wora "crosswalk" also includes any portion of a <br />roadway at an intersection or elsewhere aistinctly <br />indicatea for pedestrians crossing by lines or other <br />markings on the surface. <br /> <br />Digging out. The practice of starting any motor vehicle <br />from a stanaing position DY applying a sudden Durst of <br />power, recognized by spinning rear wheels and noise of <br />tires on the surface of the roadway. <br /> <br />Motor vehicle. <br /> <br />A vehicle which is self-propelled. <br /> <br />Park or parking. The standing of a vehicle, whether <br />occupiea or not, otherwise than a temporary stopping of <br />such vehicle for the purpose of ana while actually <br />engagea in loading or unloading passengers, merchanaise <br />or other cargo: except an involuntary stopping of such <br />vehicle by reason of mechanical failure or direction of <br />a policeman. <br /> <br />Pedestrian. <br /> <br />Any person afoot. <br /> <br />Policeman or Police Officer. Any memDer of the police <br />department of the city authorized DY law to make <br />arrests. <br /> <br />Traffic. Pedestrians, riaden or <br />veh1cles and other conveyances using <br />travel either singly or with others. <br /> <br />heraed animals, <br />any street for <br /> <br />Traffic-controL signal. A aevice by which traffic is <br />alternately airectea to stop and to go. <br /> <br />Vehicle. That sections 29-4, 29-5, 29-6, 29-9, 29-13, <br />29-14, 29-15, 29-18, 29-19, 29-20, 29-21, 29-22, 29-24 are <br />repealed. <br />
