That the Code of Ordinances, City of San Marcos, Texas, <br />1Jis hereby amended by adding Chapter 30, Article III, Division V <br />Industrial Waste Ordinance", to read as follows: <br /> <br />ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br /> <br />OF <br /> <br />SAN <br /> <br />MARCOS, <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Chapter 30 - Water and Sewers and Sewage Disposal <br />Article III - Industrial Waste <br /> <br />JþEC. 30-60. Definitions - All terms used in this section are as <br />'siefined in Title 40 Code of Federal Regulations Part 403 which is <br />"""" <br />~jþdopted hereby and incorporated by reference herein and a copy of <br />~~hich shall be maintained in the Office of the City Secretary of <br />the City of San Marcos, except as defined below. <br /> <br />( 1) <br /> <br />Abnormal Industrial Waste - By the term Abnormal Industrial <br />Waste is meant any industrial waste having a SS, COD, or BOD <br />content in excess of that found in normal waste, but which <br />is otherwise acceptable into a sanitary sewer under the <br />terms of this Section of the Code. <br /> <br />(2 ) <br /> <br />Approved Methods - By the term Approved Methods is meant the <br />latest edition of Standard Methods for the Examination of <br />Water and Wastewater (Standard Methods) prepared and <br />publishe~ jointly by the American Public Health <br />Association, American Water Works Association, and the <br />Water Pollution Control Federation, and/or the guidelines <br />published by the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency in <br />Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 136. In the <br />event these publications do not include the procedure for <br />analysis of certain constituents, that procedure as given <br />in other nationally recognized laboratory analysis manuals <br />will be acceptable with the approval of the Director. <br /> <br />(3 ) <br /> <br />BOD (Denoting Biochemical Oxygen Demand) - By the term BOD <br />is meant the quantity of oxygen utilized in the biochemical <br />oxidation of organic matter as determined by standard <br />laboratory procedure as specified in Standard Methods in <br />five (5) days at twenty degrees centigrade expressed as <br />milligrams per liter (MG/L). <br /> <br />(4 ) <br /> <br />COD (Denoting Chemical Oxygen Demand) - By the term COD is <br />meant the measure of the oxygen-consuming capacity of <br />inorganic and organic matter present in water, sewage <br />industrial waste, or other liquid as determined by standard <br />laboratory procedure as specified in Standard Methods <br />expressed as milligrams per liter (MG/L). <br /> <br />(5 ) <br /> <br />Comminuted Garbage - By the term Comminuted Garbage is meant <br />garbage that has been shredded to such a degree that all <br />particles will be carried freely under the flow conditions <br />normally prevailing in sanitary sewers, with no particle <br />greater than one-half (~) inch in any dimension. <br /> <br />-1- <br />
