<br />( 3) <br /> <br />(4 ) <br /> <br />( 5) <br /> <br />(h) <br /> <br />(k) <br />(1) <br /> <br />Office buildings which do not <br />facilities, cooling tower, <br />commercial processing service <br />discharges; <br />Hotels and motels without food service, <br />swimming pool or cooling tower; <br />Other commercial buildings discharging only <br />wastes such as, but not limited to, clothing <br />shoe stores appliance and hardware stores, <br />stores, etc.; <br />Grocery stores not having garbage grinder meat market, <br />bakery or delicatessen; <br />Barber shops, barber schools beauty shops, and beauty <br />schools; <br />Movie theaters; <br />Funeral parlors. <br /> <br />have food preparation <br />major laboratory or <br />involving large water <br /> <br />(i) <br />(j ) <br /> <br />laundry, <br /> <br />sanitary <br />stores, <br />jewelry <br /> <br />(m) <br />(n) <br /> <br />Multiple use buildings (such as shopping centers, medical <br />service buildings, etc.) having one water meter or more than <br />one water meter issued to the same person. One permit shall <br />be issued to the person in whose name the water bill is <br />issued. The quality and volume of discharge from the <br />building shall be monitored by the City and the owner shall <br />be responsible for the discharge and shall be billed <br />accordingly. Should the owner choose some other <br />arrangement, it shall be approved by the Director in <br />writing. <br /> <br />Structures Required. Any owner discharging industrial <br />wastes into a sanitary sewer shall construct a suitable <br />sampling port or control manhole at or near the property <br />line. The port or manhole shall intersect the common <br />building drain line at a point downstream from the last <br />connection to this building drain line. If the owner has <br />more than one drain line connected to the City's sanitary <br />sewer, a s~~pling port or control manhole must be <br />constructed on each drain line. <br /> <br />In those situations where there are unusual volumes of <br />industrial waste or the character of the industrial waste <br />exceeds that of normal waste at certain times within a 24- <br />hour period, a flow-equalizing tank may be required so that <br />the discharge over a 24-hour period complies with the normal <br />waste quality and flow requirement. <br /> <br />The sampling port, control manhole and/or flow equalizing <br />tank shall be constructed and/or installed at the expense of <br />the owner who is discharging the industrial waste after the <br />plans of the structure have been reviewed by the Director. <br />It also shall be the responsibility of the owner to maintain <br />the sampling port, control manhole, and/or equalizing tank <br />in a safe and proper operating condition, accessible during <br />regular working hours. <br /> <br />Disconnection. If any person depositing or discharging <br />industrial waste into a public sewer or drainageway fails to <br />secure an Industrial Waste Permit within the time prescribed <br />herein, or if any person allows or causes industrial waste <br />of unlawful quality under the requirements of this <br />Ordinance to be discharged into any sanitary sewer, the <br />Director is authorized, if such person is using City water, <br />to order disconnection of such person's service line from <br />the city water system and/or the sanitary sewer and the <br />same, at the approval of the Director, shall only be <br />reconnected at the expense of the owner or occupant. If <br />such person does not use City water, the Director is <br />authorized to disconnect the person's service line from <br />any sanitary sewer and it shall only be reconnected at the <br />expense of the owner or occupant after approval of the <br />Director. The Director shall notify the owner or occupant <br />of the premises where the waste is generated that a waste <br />of unlawful quality is being discharged and shall afford <br /> <br />-12- <br />
