<br />It (s-I/ /5l:-[j <br /> <br />monitoring means that when a violation is found, sampling is initiated <br />immediately. Specific occurances which may prompt demand monitoring <br />at an industry are: <br /> <br />IV. <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />Contributions of explosive or corrosive materials or <br />prohibited discharges to the sewer, <br /> <br />other <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />Operating difficulties in the wastewater treatment system, <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />Violation of the permit requirements, <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />Violation of pretreatment regulations by an Industrial <br />as indicated by Industrial self-monitoring or <br />monitoring .° <br /> <br />user <br />City <br /> <br />The City may require each Major Wastewater Discharger to do its <br />own sampling and monitoring, and to have the results of this <br />self-monitoring sent to the City. Under Federal pretreatmen.t <br />regulations, all categorical industries must self-monitor at <br />least twice per year. <br /> <br />FACTORS WHICH DETERMINE FREQUENCY OF MONITORING <br /> <br />Monitoring will be based on, but not limited to: <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />Volume of the industrial discharge, <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />Type and concentration of pollutants in discharge, <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />Adequacy of treatment and expected variability of <br />levels, <br /> <br />discharge <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />Industrial user has been known or is <br />treatment plant upsets, <br /> <br />expected <br /> <br />to <br /> <br />cause <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />Past history of non-compliance. <br /> <br />Discharge Volume Monitoring Schedule <br /> <br />Industry Flow <br />(average gallons per day) <br />0-10,000 <br />10,001-25,000 <br />25,001-50,000 <br />50,001-100,000 <br />Greater than 100,000 <br /> <br />Monitoring Frequency <br />Once per year <br />Once per six months <br />Once per three months <br />Once per two months <br />Once per month <br /> <br />-69- <br />
