3

Presently in San Marcos two Minor Emergency Centers are

servicing the community.

Also Hays County Memorial Hospital

is not financially capable to support or compete with such a

center.

In our research of a depot outside of city limits, the

railroad is unwilling to make any changes.

The railroad told

us to gain support and then contact them at a later date.

Our research of the helicopter showed that cost and

labor would equal approximately $750,000 to $1 million.

The

Life Flight budget for one year is over $2 million dollars

with approximately 300 flights per year.

Briefly to restate the preliminary proposal we believe

that a helicopter could be jointly utilized and funded by

the emergency groups that would profit from the helicopter.
It is a project that would not have delays; it is an immediate

solution for a serious problem.

We hope to gain support from

community groups, the above services and the public.

We propose this solution to help the community and the

city council realize the local problem and the need for

local support and resources in solving this problem.
