The motion <br />carried. <br />(23) MOTION: Upon a motion made by Council Member Scott and a second by Council <br />Member Thomaides, the City Council voted seven (7) for and none (0) opposed, to approve <br />Resolution 2013 -195R, as previously captioned. The motion carried unanimously. <br />Public Hearing <br />28.7:OOPM Receive a Staff presentation and hold a Public Hearing to receive comments for <br />or against Ordinance 201.3 -74, amending the San Marcos Smartcode by amending the <br />Sign Standards in Article 7 to provide a method for calculating sign area, to allow one <br />projecting sign per building facade, to increase the allowable area for a projecting sign, <br />to limit the placement of wall suns, to establish dimensional limits for sign bands, to <br />provide for the location of hanging suns, and to provide illustrative examples relating to <br />various sign types, and amending Article 8 to add a new definition for "Sign Band <br />including procedural provisions; and providing an effective date; and consider approval <br />of Ordinance 2013 -74, on the first of two readings. <br />Matthew Lewis, Director of Development Services, provided the Council with a presentation <br />regarding amending the Smartcode Sign Standards. <br />
