The proposed project activities in the Dunbar area is but one of a number of
community wide plans and strategies. The City has approved a major bond program
to carry out a number of public facility improvements which includes streets,
wastewater, storm drainage and water improvements.
Housing Rehabilitation

The City anticipates that $120,000.00 will be set aside for rehabilitation of
homes occupied by Section 8 residents. The maximum dollar that will be set aside
for each unit is $10,000.00. A minimum number of 10 units will be rehabilitated.
The City anticipates that the rehabilitation money will be matched with some
weatherization money as administered by the local CAP. The City would also like
to col10borate with a recently chartered se1f-belp profit organization in an
effort to leverage these 2% rehabilitation loans.
Only owner-occupied residents will be eligible for assistance if the family meets
the Section 8 incone limits. Assistance will be provided on a first come first
served basis. In the rehabilitation of homes the Southern Building Code standards
will apply & only those families residing in the proposed neighborhood revitali-
zation area will qualify for assistance which are Dunbar & Victor Gardens.
We anticipate that one family will qualify for new housing construction. if in
fact the living unit encroacbes on the needed right of way for Gravel Street.
These monies have been set aside in this proposed application.
Housing Acquisition
$30,000.00 will be set aside for any acquisition, relocation, appraisals and re-
lated expenses that may be necessary for right-of-way. Specific federally man-
dated proceedures will be followed in the acquisition process. Any unused funds
will re-directed for housing rehabilitation.
