y¿: iJJ:? ~
JEFFREY H. KESTER ARCHITECT ~"çJz
Ie, ~rn~r
116 West San Antonio Street . San Marcos, Texas 78666
member american institute of architects . 51 2/353-3339
July 25, 1985
Dear Mayor Craddock,
I was happy to hear that the City of San Marcos
will be applying for the Official Main Street City
designation for 1986. We have seen progress as we have
been carrying forward our own, unofficial, Main Street
Program, but I think the program will be more successful
if the city is adopted as a 1986 Main Street City.
The banks' low-interest loan program should
materialize if the program becomes offical, greatly
assisting the project manager's efforts to rehabilitate
our remaining dilapidated or camouflaged storefronts
downtown. This is especially significant considering
that the tax credit program for restoring and improving
our historic buildings will probably not be continued
in 1986.
If the official designation is granted to San
Marcos for this upcoming year, I will fully support
the program.
Sincerely,
~
r:?'.

\-
Jeffrey H. Kester
JHK:mfb
