Aerospace Engineering, Texas A & M University - 1969 <br /> M.S,C.E., Texas A & M University - 1972 <br /> Additional Technical Education: <br /> Fundamentals of Shallow Foundation Design <br /> University of Missouri-Rolla - 1982 <br /> Professional Engineer Registration: Texas <br /> American Concrete Institute (ACI) <br /> Texas Society of Professional Engineers (TSPE) <br /> National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) <br /> Ron Urbas has gained over 15 years of civil engineering experience, <br /> specializing in construction materials and geotechnical engineering. <br /> While working on his degrees at Texas A & M University, he was employed as <br /> an Engineering Assistant with the Texas Highway Department, and later <br /> served as a Graduate Research Assistant in charge of the Texas <br /> Transportation Institute's Construction Materials Division, <br /> Mr, Urbas joined SwL in 1972. Since that time, he has supervised the <br /> Construction Materials Engineering Division in Houston, and served as <br /> Assistant Manager of the Texas City office before being named Manager of <br /> the Rio Grande Valley office in 1978. He has suprvised the geotechnical <br /> engineering and construction materials inspection and testing of numerous <br /> maj or projects, While in Austin, he has been responsible for <br /> establishing, staffing, and operation of the Austin office. <br /> Mr. Urbas has authored several technical papers and presentations <br /> concerning the properties of concrete, He presented a paper entitled <br /> "Concrete Pavement" to the Highway Research Board in Washington, D.C" and <br /> one entitled "In-Place Vibration of Concrete and Concrete Curing" to a <br /> Houston meeting of the ASCE. In addition, Mr. Urbas has taught courses <br /> covering the quality of concrete to local concrete suppliers. <br /> Ron is active in TSPE, ACI, and the Austin Chamber of Commerce. <br /> SOUTHWESTERN LABORATORIES <br />
