<br /> -5- <br /> traffic from intersecting highways is required <br /> by law to stop before entering or crossing the <br /> same and when stop signs are erected as pro- <br /> vided in this chapter. <br /> Traffic. Pedestrians, ridden or herded animals, <br /> vehicles and other conveyances¡ either singly <br /> or together, while using any street for pur- <br /> poses of travel. <br /> Traffic-control signal. Any device, whether <br /> manually, electrically or mechanically operated, <br /> by which traffic is alternately directed to <br /> stop and to proceed. <br /> Vehicle. Every device in, upon or by which <br /> any person or property is or may be transported <br /> or drawn upon a highway, except devices moved <br /> by human power or used exclusively upon sta- <br /> tionary rails or tracks. <br /> SECTION 2. That Section 29-141 of Article VII of <br /> Chapter 29 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of San <br /> Marcos, Texas, be amended to read as follows: <br /> Sec. 29-141. Prohibited in specified places. <br /> (a) No person shall stop, stand or park a <br /> vehicle, except when necessary to avoid con- <br /> flict with other traffic or in compliance <br /> with law or the directions of a police offi- <br /> cer or traffic-control device, in any of the <br /> following places: <br /> (1) On a sidewalk or sidewalk area. <br /> ( 2) In front of a public or private driveway. <br /> (3) within an intersection. <br /> ( 4) within fifteen (15) feet of a fire hy- <br /> drant, except within an officially marked <br /> parking stall. <br /> (5) On a crosswalk. <br /> ( 6) within twenty (20) feet of a crosswalk <br /> at an intersection, except within an <br /> officially marked parking stall. <br /> ( 7) Within thirty (30) feet upon the approach <br /> to any flashing beacon, stop sign, or <br /> traffic-control signal located at the <br /> side of a roadway. <br /> ( 8) Between a safety zone and the adjacent <br /> curb or within thirty (30) feet of points <br /> on the curb immediately opposite the <br /> ends of a safety zone, unless a differ- <br /> ent length is indicated by signs or <br /> markings. <br /> (9) Within fifty (50) feet of the nearest <br /> rail of a railroad crossing. <br />
