<br /> -6- <br /> SECTION 12. That said election shall be held under <br /> the provisions of and in accordance with the provisions of <br /> the Charter and Ordinances of the City of San Marcos, and <br /> so far as may be applicable, in accordance with the laws of <br /> the State of Texas. <br /> SECTION 13. That a copy of this Ordinance signed by <br /> the Mayor of the City, attested by the City Secretary and <br /> approved by the City Attorney, shall serve as proper notice <br /> of said election. <br /> SECTION 14. That notice of said election including a <br /> Spanish translation thereof, shall be published in a <br /> newspaper published in San Marcos at least once between <br /> March 13, 1984, and March 27, 1984; shall be posted in each <br /> City election precinct in which said election is to be held <br /> on or before March 17, 1984 and shall be posted on the <br /> bulletin board at City Hall on or before March 17, 1984. <br /> SECTION 15. That a copy of this Ordinance shall be <br /> delivered to the presiding judge of each election precinct <br /> in which the election is ordered to be held, which copy <br /> shall serve as a writ of election, giving notice of said <br /> election, the location of the polling places and the hours <br /> during which the polls shall be kept open. <br /> SECTION 16. That a test of the automatic tabulating <br /> equipment shall be performed pursuant to Article 7.15-20(f) <br /> of the Texas Election Code prior to the start of the count <br /> of the ballots. Public notice of the time and place of the <br /> test shall be given at least 48 hours prior thereto by <br /> publication once in the San Marcos Daily Record. A like <br /> test shall be performed at the conclusion of the count <br /> before the election returns are approved as official. <br /> SECTION 17. That the importance of this Ordinance <br /> creates an emergency and an imperative purpose necessary <br /> that the provisions of the charter requiring that <br /> ordinances shall be read at three separate meetings and <br /> that no ordinance shall become effective until the <br /> expiration of ten (10) days following the date of its final <br /> passage be suspended, and these provisions are hereby <br /> suspended, and this Ordinance shall take effect and be in <br /> full force and effect from and after its adoption and <br /> publication in a newspaper of general circulation within <br /> the City. <br /> PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this of January, <br /> 1984. <br /> 4~r:~~- <br /> Mayor <br /> ed: <br /> s <br /> City Attorney <br /> Caption published in the DAILY RECORD February 5, 1984. <br /> Published in its entirety in the DAILY RECORD March 18, 1984 and <br /> March 25, 1984. <br />
