<br />Policy 2-3: The City will bring up to standard the overall <br />water pressur~ and capacity, and the rlre <br /> <br />service lines and fire hydrants, for areas <br /> <br />within the city limits of San Marcos that do <br /> <br />not currently have adequate fire protection. <br /> <br />Policy 2-4: The City will replace the deteriorating water <br /> <br />lines in areas like the Central Business <br /> <br />District in the next five years. <br /> <br />Objective 3: To provide improvements to the water distribution <br /> <br />system as the City grows so that adequate water <br /> <br />pressure and capacity lS retained. <br /> <br /> <br />policy 3-1: The City will make the necessary improvements <br /> <br /> <br />to maintain a minimQ~ water pressure of 40 to <br /> <br /> <br />60 psi during peak demand hours and a mlnlmum <br /> <br />of 20 pSl during fire fighting flow conditions. <br /> <br />Policy 3-2: Prior to a population level of 46,033, the <br /> <br />City shall provide additional pumplng capacity <br /> <br />In advance of the demand In such increments as <br /> <br />are necessary to provide an additional 11.5 <br /> <br />million gallons per day of service pump <br />capacity plus the necessary standby capacity. <br />Policy 3-3: The City will install a 750,000 gallon <br />elevated storage tank in the lower system by <br />population level 28,000 (approximately, year <br />1987) and a 1,000,000 gallon elevated storage <br />tank in the upper system by population level <br />28,000 (approximately, year 1987). <br /> <br />policy 3-4: The City will build an additional 3 million <br /> <br />gallons of ground storage In the upper system <br /> <br />by population level 46,033 (approximately, <br /> <br />year 2000). <br />Objective 4: The City shall ensure the adequate installation of <br /> <br />water distribution systems In future developments, <br /> <br />and reduce the need for rehabilitation of the water <br /> <br />system. <br />
