<br />Policy 4-1: The City will meet as soon as possible with <br /> <br />the Public Utility Commission to enlarge San <br /> <br />Marcos' service area to include the area <br /> <br />within the extraterritorial jurisdiction, <br /> <br />except for those areas currently served by <br /> <br />another authorized utility. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />WASTEWATER COLLECTION SYSTEM <br /> <br /> <br />Goal: To provide a wastewater collection system that is <br /> <br /> <br />adequate to collect and treat the wastewater or San <br /> <br /> <br />Marcos in an efficient and practical manner as the City <br /> <br />grows. <br /> <br />Objective 1: To increase the capacity of the wastewater <br /> <br />treatment facilities, ~ncluding the main lift <br />station, so that the wastewater of San Marcos in <br /> <br />the year 2000 can be adequately treated. <br /> <br /> <br />Policy l-l: The City will monitor its growth and <br /> <br /> <br />population curve and make improvements to the <br /> <br /> <br />wastewater treatment facilities, including the <br /> <br /> <br />maln lift station, well In advance of the <br /> <br />demand, In such increments as necessary. <br /> <br />Policy 1-2: The City will follow the recommendations of <br /> <br />the City of San Marcos Facility Plan, 1981, <br /> <br />and will lmplement such improvements as soon <br /> <br />as possible. <br />Policy 1-3: The City will take whatever action lS <br /> <br />necessary to prevent future wastewater <br /> <br />overflow, especially into the San Marcos <br /> <br />River. <br /> <br />Policy 1-4: The City will begin replacing wastewater <br />collection lines on a priority basis to <br /> <br />eliminate the extra wastewater that creates <br /> <br />capacity problems and overflows during wet <br /> <br />weather, and that has to be treated at the <br /> <br />plant. <br />
