<br /> We have already seen the impact of the current progr~. In the past seven
<br /> rn:::>nths, ten(10) Neigh1::ürhood Watch groups have been organized, forty~ne civic
<br /> and business group presentations were made, and over 2,000 pieces of crime prevention
<br /> Ii t,erature distributed. In the rn:::>nths of January and February alone, t\ve1ve arrests,
<br /> eleven of which ..vere felonies, ...,ere made as a direct result of citizen participation
<br /> &'1d awareness. We have also, as a response to ccmnunity wishes, fingerprinted over
<br /> 325 children since the program began in early February. We have another 500
<br /> scheduled during the next rronth. The department is also sp:msoring an academy for
<br /> our Reserve Officers in late l-"larch to adequately train: them to be volu..T1teers in our
<br /> Cadets on Patrol. These officers will supplement the current patrol force and will
