<br /> 84 <br /> STATE OF TEXAS X <br /> X CONTRACT FOR PROFESSIONAL SERVICES <br /> COUNTY OF HAYS X <br /> KNOW ALL PERSONS BY THESE PRESENTS: <br /> This Contract and Agreement made and entered on this 7th <br /> day of May, 1984, by and between the City of San Marcos, a <br /> municipal corporation of the State of Texas, hereinafter <br /> referred to as "City," and Gary N. Matthews, hereinafter re- <br /> ferred to as the "Consultant," witnesseth: <br /> In consideration of the mutual agreements hereinafter <br /> contained and subject to the terms and conditions hereinafter <br /> stated, it is hereby understood and agreed by the parties <br /> hereto as follows: <br /> 1. That the City desires to secure the services of <br /> persons trained in psychological testing and evaluations for <br /> and on behalf of the City of San Marcos Police Department; <br /> 2. That the Consultant is ready, willing, able, and <br /> professionally qualified to undertake such services for the <br /> City; <br /> 3. That the Consultant will perform the following <br /> services: <br /> a. Will administer a battery of appropriate tests <br /> to each police officer applicant recommended for <br /> psychological screening by the City. The results <br /> of all the tests will be screened and interpreted <br /> by a qualified psychologist. The MMPI tests, when <br /> used, will be scored either by a qualified psycholo- <br /> gist or a qualified professional testing service. <br /> The detailed reliability and validity data for each <br /> test will be available on request. <br /> b. Will interview each police officer candidate per- <br /> sonally and, if necessary, subject such candidate <br /> to a period of observation by one or more psycholo- <br /> gists. <br /> c. Will prepare a written report for the City concerning <br /> the psychological fitness of each candidate to be a <br /> San Marcos Police Officer. The report will include <br /> specific conclusions made by the Consultant and the <br /> justification for the conclusions. <br />
