Hopkins <br /> San Marcos, Texas 78666 <br /> Re: Engineering Services - <br /> Package Wastewater <br /> Treatment Plant <br /> Dear Mr. Gonzalez: SRM <ΕΎ?4Çg ç <br /> The purpose of the letter agreement is to outline the scope of our services <br /> and our compensation basis for providing Engineering Services in <br /> conjunction with construction of a package wastewater treatment plant for <br /> the Ci ty to provide interim treatment capacity until expansion of the <br /> Contact Stabilization Plant (Plant No. 2) is complete. The services will <br /> be in two phases - Design and General Representation. <br /> The Design Phase wi 11 consist of 1) attending t'f/O (2) prel iminary <br /> conferences with the City and other interested parties regarding the <br /> Project; 2) establishing the scope of any soil or foundation investigations <br /> or any topographic of route surveys which, in the opinion of the Engineer, <br /> may be required, and assist the City in arranging for such work to be done; <br /> 3) preparing a prel imi nary engi neeri ng report on the Project including <br /> unit sizing, preliminary layouts of facilities, and estimates of probable <br /> construction costs; 4) preparing detail ed speci fi cati ons and contract <br /> drawings for construction of facilities represented in the Preliminary <br /> Engineering Report authorized by the Ci ty; 5) preparing a final estimate <br /> of probable construction cost for the work to be constructed; 6) obtaining <br /> approval of the fi na 1 pl ans and speci fi cati ons from the Texas Department of <br /> Health; 7) assisting the City in advertiselnent of the Project for bids; and <br /> 9) assisting the City in opening and tabulation of the bids for <br /> construction of the Project and making a recommendation to the City on <br /> award of the construction contract. <br /> The General Representation Phase will consist of 1) assisting the City in <br /> preparation of the Formal Construction Contract Documents; 2) making <br /> periodic visits (two per month) to the site to observe the progress and <br /> qua 1 ity of the executed work and to determine in general if the work is <br /> proceeding in accordance with the contract Documents, (in performing these <br /> servi ces the Engi neer wi 11 endeavor to protect the Owner agai nst defects <br /> and deficiencies in the work of the contractor, but he cannot guarantee the <br /> performance of the contractor, nor be responsible for the actual <br /> supervision of construction operations or for the safety measures that the <br /> 512/451-7955 ONE HIGHLAND CENTER SUITE 560 314 HIGHLAND MALL BL VD AUSTIN.
