Regular Meeting August 21. 2007 Page 11 Mayor Narvaiz introduced a discussion regarding setting a Workshop for the Climate Control discussion and to receive the Downtown Master Plan (proposed date: Thursday, September 20, 2007 at 6:00 p.m. in the Activity Center, Room 1) and direction to Staff. Mayor Narvaiz stated she would like to receive the Downtown Master Plan at and then hold the Climate Control Workshop. Ms. Barrett stated the Consultants will be at University until 4:30 and then there will be a public meeting at 7:OOp.m. She stated the City can do their Climate Control Workshop from 6:00 -8:00 p.m. and then meet with the consultants. She stated the Consultants are coming to San Marcos on the 20th, which is a standing meeting of President Cabinet. Mayor Narvaiz stated the City commissioned Master Plan work and paid for it. She stated she feels the City Council should be the first people to see this Master Plan. Mr. Guerrero, Ms. Couch and Thomaides agreed with the Mayor. Mr. O'Leary stated Staff will reschedule so the Council will review before they meet with anyone else. Mayor Narvaiz stated she feels the other meeting with the consultants should be combined into a Council Workshop. Ms. Barrett stated this was the process the University used with their Master Plan. The Council agreed by consensus to hold the Master Plan Workshop on September 20, 2007 at 6:00 p.m. at the Activity Center and to find another date for the Climate Control Workshop. They also agreed to the President's Cabinet and Commissioners come to the same Workshop. Mayor Narvaiz introduced an Executive Session pursuant to the Government Code, Section 551.074 to discuss the employment of a public officer or employee (City Attorney). The Council adjourned into Executive Session at 9:15 P.M. Mayor Narvaiz announced the Council would reconvene at 9:35 p.m. Mayor Narvaiz introduced for consideration adoption or direction to Staff on matters discussed in Executive Session. Mr. O'Leary stated the City Council received an update and gave directions on the employment of the City Attorney. Mayor Narvaiz introduced for consideration adoption of Resolution, the caption which was read as follows: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, APPROVING AN EMPLOYMENT AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY AND FOR THE POSITION OF CITY ATTORNEY; AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE THE AGREEMENT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
