<br /> -5- <br /> Proposed wording: <br /> (b) Each Council Member for places 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 <br /> and 6 shall hold office for a period of three (3) year s , <br /> staggered so that two (2) members shall be elected <br /> to a regular term each year. The Council Member elected <br /> to the place of Mayor shall hold office for a period <br /> of two (2) years. <br /> B. Section 3.04. Compensation. <br /> It is recommended that the Council members receive up to <br /> $300 and the Mayor up to $500 a month for expenses incurred <br /> in the performance of their duties. The exact amount should <br /> be determined by the Council at the beginning of each fiscal <br /> year. <br /> Proposed wording: <br /> Members of the City Council shall serve without pay <br /> or compensation; provided, however, that they shall be <br /> entitled to all necessary expenses incurred in the <br /> performance of their official duties. Beg inning ,.vi th <br /> the annual City Budget for the fiscal year 1983-1984, <br /> there shall be provided in each annual City Budget an <br /> amount not to exceed six thousand dollars ($6,000) <br /> for the expenses of the Mayor and three thousand six <br /> hundred dollars ($3,600) for the expenses of each <br /> Council Member excluding the Mayor. The Mayor and <br /> members of the City Council shall be reimbursed from <br /> the amounts so provided for in the annual City Budget <br /> for their actual official business expenses. <br /> C. Section 3.05. Mayor and Mayor Pro Tempore. <br /> It is recommended that the first paragraph beginning with <br /> "At the next regular meeting" be deleted as no longer necessary. <br /> Proposed wording: <br /> The Mayor shall preside at all meetings of the Council <br /> and shall be recognized as head of the City government <br /> for all ceremonial purposes, for the purpose of receiving <br /> service of civil process, for military purposes, and <br /> as principal liaison between Council Members and the <br />
