PART IV--PROGRAM NARRATIVE, cont'd. An estimated timetable for the expansion project is given below: July 25, 1983 LSCA Title II preapplication is submitted to the State Library and the Capital Area Planning Council for review. Sept. 1, 1983 The State Library recommends approval of the expansion project. Oct. 1, 1983 City of San Marcos voters approve the sale of $450,000 in bonds to expand the library. Oct. 15, 1983 The final application is submitted to the State Library. Nov. 1, 1983 The State Library releases a contract with the City of San Marcos to expend grant funds. Nov. 15, 1983 The City engages the services of a library building consultant and appoints a library building committee to prepare a written building program and furniture/equipment specifications. Jan. 15, 1984 The building program is completed and submitted to the State Library for review. Jan. 15, 1984 The City engages the services of licensed architects and engineers to prepare the plans, specifications, site surveys, and soil investigations necessary for the project. April 15, 1984 Final working plans, specifications, etc. are completed and submitted to the State Library for approval. May 15, 1984 The expansion project is placed on the market for bids. June 30, 1984 A construction contract is signed with the selected builder and construction begins. July 1, 1985 Furniture/equipment specifications are released to the suppl iers for bids. Aug. 15, 1985 A contract for the supply of furniture and equipment is signed with the selected supplier. Jan. 1, 1986 Construction on the building is completed, inspected and accepted by the city. Feb. 1, 1986 Furnishings and equipment are received and installed. Aug. 31, 1986 All grant funds are expended by the City. Feb. 1, 1987 Final audit of grant funds is conducted by independent CPA and submitted to the State Library.
