<br /> 89 <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 1983-67R <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br /> CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, APPROVING AND <br /> ADOPTING THE MASTER PLAN SUBMITTED BY THE <br /> SESQUICENTENNIAL COORDINATING COIv1MITTEE OF <br /> SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, DIRECTING SAID COIv1MITTEE <br /> TO SUBMIT SAID MASTER PLAN TO THE TEXAS SES- <br /> QUICENTENNIAL COIv1MISSION AND DECLARING AN <br /> EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> WHEREAS, the State of Texas will celebrate in 1986 <br /> its 150th year of Independenc~; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of San Marcos, <br /> Texas fully supports the celebration of Texas' l50 years <br /> of Independence and desires to participate in the 1986 <br /> Sesquicentennial Celebration; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council has appointed a committee <br /> to plan and coordinate Sesquicentennial activities for <br /> the City of San Marcos; and <br /> WHEREAS, a Master Plan has been duly developed and <br /> drafted by the Sesquicentennial Coordinating Committee of <br /> San Marcos for the observance of this anniversary, a copy <br /> of said Iv1aster Plan being attached hereto as Exhibit "A" <br /> and incorporated herein for all intents and purposes; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of San Marcos, <br /> Texas supports the objectives, projects and goals of the <br /> Committee as detailed in the Master Plan; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br /> MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> PART 1. That the Sesquicentennial Master Plan, a copy <br /> of which is attached hereto as Exhibit "A" and incorporated <br /> herein for all intents and purposes, be approved and adopted <br /> as submitted by the Sesquicentennial Coordinating Committee <br /> of San Marcos, Texas, and the same is hereby approved and <br /> adopted. <br /> PART 2. That the Sesquicentennial Coordinating Committee <br /> of San Marcos, Texas is hereby directed to submit said Master <br /> Plan to the Texas Sesquicentennial Commission for official <br /> evaluation with the goal of receiving recognition and sanction <br /> as a Texas Independence Community. <br /> PART 3. That the City of San Marcos be encouraged <br /> to diligently assist the officers and members of the Ses- <br /> quicentennial Coordinating Committee of San Marcos, Texas <br /> with its plans and preparations to make the Sesquicentennial <br /> Celebration in San Marcos a successful endeavor. <br /> PART 4.
