SImilar phrases to the Campus Master Plan GUldmg PnnClples appear <br />In a vanety of CIty plans, lncludmg the Honzons Master Plan, San Marcos TransportatlOn Master <br />Plan, and the Sector Plans. In addltlon, many of the Sector Plans reference desires to create <br />pedestnan-fnendly enVIronments, safe blCycl1ng systems, Improve building aesthetlCs and <br />landscaping, consIder envIronmental Issues In development of facilttles, and Improve traffic and <br />park1ng management. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The City of San Marcos and Texas State Uruverslty-San Marcos have many unified interests, which <br />has led to an Increased spmt of cooperatlOn and COOrdInatlOn between the two entities. ThIS was <br />eVIdent as the Umverslty undertook a Campus Master Plan. The Umversity Included the San Marcos <br />Plannmg and Development Services Director on the Facilities Campus Planning Committee, which <br />was Involved In the seleCtlon of consultants to complete the Campus Master Plan. Similarly, the City <br />Manager was a member of the Local Regental Planmng Committee tasked Wlth approvlng the <br />Campus Master Plan and forwarding It to the Texas State Umverslty System Board of Regents. Other <br />members of the Local Regental Planning Commlttee Included representatIves from the San Marcos <br />Chamber of Commerce and San Marcos Consoltdated Independent School Dlstnct. In addJtlOn, <br />umverslty representatlves frequently met WIth CIty department dltectors regardJng the Plan's GUlding <br />PnnClples and update them on ItS progress. The CIty's Engmeenng and Planmng and Development <br />ServlCes Departments were partlcularly Important in revlewmg vanous proposals as part of the <br />Campus Master Plan. The umverslty gave frequent presentatlOns to the CIty Council throughout the <br />process. PartlClpatlOn In the campus master planll1ng process dId not stop WIth CIty hall as the <br />Uruverslty solICIted feedback from other groups, mcludJng the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce, <br />LULAC, Rotary Club, Klwarus Club, LlOns Club, CounClI of NeIghborhood AssoClatlOns and the <br />Downtown ASSOCIatIon. <br /> <br />ThIS spmt of cooperatlOn has carried past the Campus Master Plan, partlcularly In the realm of <br />Infrastructure and transportatlon. In addltlon to CIty staff, the Ull1Verslty often consults WIth the <br />Transportatlon AdVISory Board, Planning and Zorung CommIssIon, CIty Council and the Downtown <br />Park1ng CommIttee regarding recommendatIons for street Improvements and street changes. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />15 <br />
