City Attorney Hankins stated it would be helpful for a
budget to be presented as to use of funds. Mayor Craddock discussed
the integration of members of both Chambers of Commerce working to-
gether to promote tourism. Mr. Nicola stated he would be willing
for funds to be set aside until such time as their budget and projects
had been specified to the Council's satisfaction. John Diaz advised
he felt a Mexican-American should be on the Chamber's Board. Mr.
Coddington stated he thought the Board would be willing to have two
Mexican-American representatives on the Board and stated it could pos-
sibly be set up with two City representatives, 2 Chamber of Commerce
representatives and two Hispanic Chamber of Commerce representatives
and possibly one representative from the Eotel Industry. Mr. Coddington
stated he thought the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce should wait until
next September or October to request funding. Mr. Brown stated he
would like to have an opportunity to review their budget of goals
and objectives and that good coordination between the two Chambers
needed to be worked out. Jack Lindstrom stated the Chamber of Com-
merce and the Tourist Development Committee's money lS separate, and
that he does not think splitting the monies will work. He invited
the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to send representatives to the
Chamber meetings and in the future for members to be representated
on the Tourist Development Committee. John Diaz stated he thought
it would be a great idea to have representatives of the Hispanic
Chamber of Commerce on the Tourist Development Committee. Mr. Brown
stated it was possible the Council consider specifying a portion of
the funds to certain projects of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
Buddy Mostyn stated he would like the opportunity to review their
recommendations and that they be considered on merit of how many
people could be drawn by specific projects. Scott McGee stated he
thought it would be a big mistake to divide the efforts of promoting
San Marcos. Paul Sadillo, an attorney from New Braunfels, stated the
Hispanic Chamber of Commerce wan~ a portion of the funds designated
to them for promotion of tourism to San Marcos in relation with
Hispanics.
