Regular Meeting August 6, 2007 Page 8 <br />Ordinance on first reading, and Mr. Thomaides seconded the motion, which <br />passed unanimously. <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced for consideration of adoption of an Ordinance on <br />emergency, the caption which was read as follows: <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />ORDERING A GENERAL AND SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 6, 2007 <br />FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING A CITY COUNCIL MEMBER, PLACE 1, A CITY <br />COUNCIL MEMBER, PLACE 2; AND TO SUBMIT A PROPOSITION TO THE VOTERS FOR <br />THE DESIGNATION OF A VENUE TAX; ESTABLISHING EARLY VOTING LOCATIONS <br />AND POLLING PLACES FOR THIS ELECTION; MAKING PROVISIONS FOR THE <br />CONDUCT OF THE ELECTION; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />Mr. Thomaides moved for adoption of an Ordinance on emergency, and Mr. <br />Guerrero seconded the motion. Mayor Narvaiz stated the election Ordinance <br />was written with the 20 venue tax to be provided to voters, if the Council <br />chooses to change to 1%, then an amendment will need to be made. The <br />Council voted unanimously for adoption of the Resolution. <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced for consideration the reconsideration of adoption <br />of a Zoning Ordinance. The Council chose not to reconsider the Zoning <br />Ordinance, the caption reads as follows: <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />AMENDING THE OFFICIAL ZONING MAP OF THE CITY BY REZONING A 1.71 ACRE, <br />MORE OR LESS, TRACT OF LAND LOCATED IN THE 1500 BLOCK OF RANCH ROAD 12 <br />FROM "SF -6" SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENTIAL DISTRICT TO "OP" OFFICE AND <br />PROFESSIONAL DISTRICT; INCLUDING PROCEDURAL PROVISIONS; AND PROVIDING <br />FOR PENALTIES. <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced for consideration approval for proposed ad valorem <br />tax rate of 53.02 (public hearings are scheduled for August 16, 2007 at <br />6:00 p.m. and August 21, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, <br />630 E. Hopkins). Mr. Bose moved for approval of proposed ad valorem tax <br />reading of 53.02G and Mr. Guerrero seconded the motion. Mayor Narvaiz <br />stated the increase is based on the projects the citizens approved in the <br />last Bond Election.
