City Council Meeting Minutes June 17, 2014 <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS - 7:00 PM <br />12. Consider approval of Ordinance 2014 -35, on the second of two readings, amending <br />Chapter 4, Article 4 of the City's Land Development Code by adding a new Division 3 <br />that establishes Supplemental Multifamily Residential Design Standards; providing a <br />savings clause; providing for the repeal of any conflicting provisions; and providing an <br />effective date. <br />John Foreman, Planning Manager, provided a presentation to Council regarding the Multifamily <br />Residential Design Standards. <br />Mayor Daniel Guerrero opened the Public Hearing at 8:49 p.m. <br />Todd Adams, 2011 Kimber, Round Rock, TX addressed the Council and asked them to consider <br />fibrous cement into your product. He asked the council to consider aesthetic diversity. They <br />want to provide a variety of options. Brick can have durability issues as can fibrous cement. <br />Please consider adding to design pallet. He provided the Council with a print out of fiber cement <br />examples for their review. <br />Leila Siqueiros, 1104 Fossil Cove, Round Rock, TX, Texas Masonry Council, spoke in support of <br />the masonry requirement and Staff's recommendation. <br />There being no further comments, the Mayor closed the Public Hearing at 8:53 PM <br />A motion was made by Mayor Pro -Tem Thomaides, seconded by Council Member Scott, that the <br />Staff recommend version of Ordinance 2014 -35 be approved, on the first of two readings. The <br />motion carried by the following vote: <br />For: 5- Mayor Guerrero, Mayor Pro-Tern Thomaides, Council Member Thomason, Council <br />Member Scott and Council Member Prewitt <br />Against: 1 - Deputy Mayor Pro Tern Becak <br />Absent: 1 - Council Member Prather <br />13. Consider approval of Ordinance 2014 -38, on the second of two readings, amending <br />the Official Zoning Map of the City by rezoning a 50.339 acre, more or less, tract of <br />land out of the William Ward Survey No. 3, Abstract No. 467, for a portion of <br />Yarrington Commons, located near the 2700 block of Post Road at the Blanco River, <br />from TY Future Development District to "MF -24" Multiple - Family Residential District; <br />and including procedural provisions. <br />Matt Lewis, Director of Development Services, provided a brief presentation of the request. <br />Mayor Guerrero opened the Public Hearing at 9:15 p.m. <br />Ocie Vest, Ste5949 Cherry Lane, Dallas, TX, addressed the Council and spoke in favor of the new <br />revisions to the multifamily design standards. They have been willing to pace their applications <br />based on these new standards being adopted so that they can build according to the new <br />standards. <br />City of San Marcos Page 4 <br />
